When processing the non-food feedstock Sweet Sorghum (comparable to sugar cane) the plant can integrate low carbon operations and capture organic renewable fertilizers from the vinasses by-product.

As a result, the farming of feedstock for the plant reduces the non-renewable fertilizer requirements for growing Sorghum. This further reduces the carbon footprint of the plant. The new renewable fertilizers will be applied to the crops through irrigation, thus the name "Fertirrigation"
